If you are reading this, welcome! I know this might be a rough first blog post, but it is because I wanted to start before I could talk myself out of it. All I know is for a while now God has been giving me topic ideas for a blog and it finally hit me…maybe God wants me to share a blog. Then, as I was watching a video from Priscilla Shirer with the subject of the Armor of God, she was talking about being obedient to what you feel God is leading you to and she uses the example of writing a blog to help people. I don’t know if the sign could be any clearer, so here we are. If you don’t know me, my name is Stephanie Holt. I have been in a season of my faith where I have to walk by faith and not by sight, because right now I really don’t know how things will work out. I am starting this blog entirely by faith. I just don’t want to miss an opportunity to be obedient. To be completely transparent I had started this about two months ago, but let fear hold me back from continuing. There were some other obstacles like sickness. Truthfully, though, I was really afraid.
This is not something I ever thought I could do. This is something I have seen other people do, but never thought I would be the one doing it. So at this point, I don’t have a whole lot planned out for this blog spot, but I decided I had to launch out in active faith and trust God to put the rest together. So, with that, I do believe I am going to call it “The Faith Place.” Again, I can’t take credit for this, because Priscilla talked about The Faith Place in her devotional, but I hope it will be okay for me to use as my blog name.
What is the faith place you may ask? It’s faith that takes action. This is particularly personal to me, because in the midst of what feels like already deep waters sometimes we have to launch out even deeper with Jesus. In this moment it is not about what the circumstances look like, but it’s about what you believe God to be calling you into. It’s a scary place, because launching out by faith and not sight means you are completely putting your trust in God. It means taking God at His word and trusting that if he brought you to it, He will bring you through it. And, if you find yourself in a situation where you messed up and made mistakes, it’s knowing that you can come back to Him and you can trust that He will take your mess and turn it around for your good and for His glory. The purpose of my blogs will not be only to make you feel good, but to challenge you and myself. I don’t want people reading who are comfortable with complacency. Some topics may be uncomfortable, but I will never post out of anything but love and honor for the Lord.
One thing I do know is that this will be a faith based blog, and I hope that whatever this turns into will be a ministry to bring insight, encouragement, hope, inspiration, and of course faith. As we walk this journey of faith, I want you as my readers to also feel empowered to make suggestions of topics you would like me to write about. So welcome to “The Faith Place!” I’m so happy you chose to read and I hope that you will come back for more as this begins to grow!
Until next time,
~Stephanie Holt
